When your pet needs answers, North Davies Veterinary Hospital’s in-house diagnostic imaging delivers fast, accurate results.
Faster Answers,
Better
Outcomes
Veterinary diagnostics give our team a window into your pet’s internal health that a physical exam alone cannot provide. Whether we are evaluating a sudden change in behavior, running routine wellness bloodwork, or preparing for a surgical procedure, our diagnostic tools allow us to gather critical information on the same day as your pet’s appointment, no unnecessary referrals, no additional trips, no waiting on answers that matter.
At North Davies Veterinary Hospital, we believe transparency is part of good medicine. When diagnostic results come in, we walk you through what we are seeing in plain language, not medical jargon, so you understand your pet’s condition and feel confident in the care plan we recommend. We always send results directly to you so you have them for your own records. You should never leave an appointment with unanswered questions about your pet’s health.
Our Diagnostic
Services
Veterinary diagnostics encompass the tools and tests used to identify what is happening inside your pet’s body when a physical exam alone cannot answer the question. At North Davies Veterinary Hospital, our in-house diagnostic capabilities include bloodwork, urinalysis, digital radiology, and rapid testing — so results come back quickly and treatment can begin without unnecessary delays. The AVMA notes that timely diagnostics are critical for accurate diagnoses and better patient outcomes.
In-House Diagnostics
Same-Day Results, Right Here in the Clinic
Our in-house diagnostic lab allows us to run a wide range of tests during your pet’s visit and review results before you leave. This means faster decisions and fewer follow-up trips for you and your pet. In-house testing includes comprehensive bloodwork, thyroid testing, heartworm testing, FeLV/FIV testing, urinalysis, and more. Dr. Oas will walk you through every result in detail: what the numbers mean, what is normal, and what we recommend based on the findings.
Reference Laboratory Services
For cases that require a broader scope of testing, we partner with IDEXX, a leading veterinary reference laboratory. Through this partnership, we can access comprehensive laboratory panels, fecal testing, advanced diagnostics, cytology and pathology services, and specialized testing that goes beyond what any in-house system can offer. IDEXX results are reviewed by our team as soon as they are available, and we will contact you promptly to go over findings and next steps.
Diagnostic
Imaging
Our imaging services give us a clear look at your pet’s internal structures when physical examination is not enough. We offer digital radiographs with radiology consultation services and STAT radiology review options for urgent cases. We also perform OFA hip and elbow radiographs for breed health screening and orthopedic evaluation. Images are reviewed promptly, and Dr. Oas will go over findings with you the same day whenever possible so you always know where your pet stands.
Common Reasons We
Recommend Diagnostics
Diagnostics are recommended across a wide range of situations, from investigating sudden symptoms to confirming a diagnosis, monitoring a known condition, or establishing a baseline during a wellness visit. They are one of the most valuable tools we have for understanding what is happening inside your pet’s body.
The following are some of the most common reasons Dr. Oas may recommend diagnostic testing during your pet’s visit.
Situations That May Require Diagnostic Testing
- Annual wellness exams and baseline health screening
- Unexplained limping, pain, or difficulty moving
- Vomiting, diarrhea, or other gastrointestinal concerns
- Suspected fractures, joint issues, or orthopedic evaluation
- Pre-surgical evaluation and post-surgical monitoring

FAQS
How quickly will I get lab results?
For in-house testing, Dr. Oas can review results the same day as your pet’s appointment in most cases. We will go over the findings with you before you leave so you have a clear understanding of your pet’s condition and what we recommend as next steps. For reference laboratory tests sent to IDEXX, turnaround times vary by test type, but we will communicate a realistic timeline and contact you as soon as results are available.
Will I receive a copy of my pet's results?
Yes. We send results directly to you so you have them for your own records. We believe in full transparency; if there are values that stand out or numbers you want explained, we encourage you to ask. You should never leave an appointment feeling like something was glossed over or left unexplained.
